Visa decisions follow rules that change often and leave little room for error. The immigration practice group at Sun Lawyers, led by Principal Solicitor Jing Sun, has handled Australian visa applications and reviews since 2012. We act for individuals, families and employers, in English and Mandarin, from our Sydney office and for clients anywhere in Australia or overseas. With limited exceptions, immigration assistance may be given in Australia only by a registered migration agent or, in connection with legal practice, an Australian legal practitioner. Our immigration work is done by a solicitor, which means the same person can advise on the application, respond to the Department, and run the review if the application is refused. Legal practitioners who give immigration assistance are regulated by the legal profession rules that apply to all of their work. Many immigration problems are also legal problems in another area, such as an employment contract behind a sponsorship, a company structure behind a business visa, or a family law matter behind a partner visa. Those matters are handled within the same firm, by the colleagues who practise in those areas.
